Visa Interview!
January 30th 2019
This day I took the train to Stockholm again, this time for my K1 fiance visa interview! The last step in this long process! I was so nervous but also so excited because this is what I have been waiting for, for 10 months. When I arrived I walked to my hotel and checked in and later I had dinner with Sanna. I had some relaxing time in the hotel, to calm my nerves and went to bed early.

The big day, Visa interview day! I woke up at 6 am and went to the hotel breakfast. I checked out of the hotel and left my bag in the their storage room. I had a friend that was having the interview at the same time so I texted her while I ran to bus, caught it in time and went to the American Embassy. When I got there I went to the line, where my friend was. Nervously we waited for the Embassy to open up. There is two lines, non-immigrant and immigrant. One at a time you get called up to the window where you show you passport through the glass window. Then they asked me to step back on a line, take off my coat, lift my arms out and turn around, lift your feet to show you shoes. Then then let me through the door. Inside it is like a security at the airport, you put your stuff in the bins and it goes through a scanner and so do you. After that you hand in all your electronics and they give you a ticket so you can pick it up afterwards. Next they open the door and told me where to go. I walked to the building the told me and there a guard opened the door and asked we what visa I was there for, I answered and he pointed me to the other side of the room and to sit down and wait. Me and my friend sat and waited, nervously.
After a while they called my name, I walked up to a window where a woman asked for all my paperwork and I also handed over more pictures and other proof of our relationship. She some questions about my sponsors and then I could go sit down and wait again. My friend got called up for her interview, I could hear a little how it went. After she was done, my name got called and I walked up to the window. The woman explained how it was gonna go and we started with taking fingerprints, swear an oath and then she said “Okay now the interview starts”. I don’t remember exactly what questions she asked me, I kind of blacked out and it’s been over a year. It was maybe four questions, she asked about how we met and become a couple, if I had lived outside of Sweden after 16 years of age (if so were and what kind of visa), and then some questions about my co-sponsor. In the end she said ” I can’t official approve you since we haven’t gotten the medical examination papers yet, but you should expect your passport within two weeks”. I said thanks and smiled, she smiled back and said “I love your ring” and it was over 😀 It all took maybe an hour, so very quick.
Spent the rest of the day in Stockholm until my train back home on the afternoon.
